Hello, and welcome to Little Farmers Preschool and Daycare, located just a few minutes north of Decorah, Iowa!

Little Farmers Preschool and Daycare was opened in 2017 by Allison and Josh Phillips with the dream of providing young children with the opportunity to connect with each other and nature in a fun play-focused learning environment.

Allison graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2004 with a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Since then, her passion for working with young children has been her driving purpose. After gaining experience in a public school setting and running an in-home daycare while raising their four children, Allison set out to fulfill her dream of offering a unique preschool experience. She shares, "I knew I wanted to do more than just teach; I wanted to make a bigger impact. I wanted to share my passion in a way that set me apart—creating a curriculum that encourages children to learn through play. Most importantly, I wanted to give children the opportunity to simply be kids!" Allison’s vision led to the creation of Little Farmers, a place where children can thrive in a creative, play-centered environment.

 

Josh began his career as a trained mason, mastering the craft of building and creating with precision. However, his passion for working with kids led him to a new path alongside his wife, Allison, at Little Farmers Preschool and Daycare. With a playful spirit and a creative mind, Josh brings fun to every day, whether he's hosting impromptu dance parties, teaching kids how to make the best paper airplanes, or leading a friendly basketball game. His background in hands-on work makes him an expert at engaging children in creative, active play while nurturing their growth and teamwork. Josh’s enthusiasm and energy create a vibrant, fun atmosphere where learning feels like an adventure.

As parents of four kids, Allison and Josh love sharing their passion for gardening and caring for animals with the children at Little Farmers. Their garden, chickens, and goats are not just part of their home life—they're an integral part of the daycare. These hands-on experiences teach the kids about nature, responsibility, and the rewards of hard work. Whether they're planting seeds, collecting eggs, or feeding the goats, the children are learning valuable life lessons while having fun and connecting with the world around them. It’s all part of the mission to foster curiosity, creativity, and a love of the outdoors!
